Plan for a Successful Year

Whew! We made it through the hustle and bustle of the holidays and the first month of the new year. Life gets so busy that we sometimes don’t get around to some of the things on our to-do lists, but that’s okay. This month, the Fieldstone Farms Blog has some ideas to help you get set to succeed in 2018 in Odenton, MD. (If you’ve already taken care of these things, good for you!)
Apartment
Do an inventory of your apartment. Note any repairs that need to be made and notify maintenance about them. Change the batteries in clocks and smoke alarms. Check to be sure your first aid kit is complete, replenish as necessary. (Be sure to properly dispose of any outdated medications.) Create or replenish an emergency supply of water and food. Plan or schedule to do a detailed cleaning of your apartment.
Financial
Benjamin Franklin said, among many other things regarding money, “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” This is quite true when it comes to planning for financial concerns. Take some time to review your 2017 budget and note where you may need to make some adjustments for 2018. Take into account the changing costs of items, your needs and wants, etc. Review your insurance coverages and determine if you need to make any adjustments to them. Gather together the paperwork you will need to do your taxes. Determine if there are major purchases you will want to make this year, costs for travel, and other probable expenditures, and account for them in your budget.
Personal
Make appointments for the eye doctor, dentist, and with your primary care physician for an annual checkup. Knowing your health needs are taken care of can give you peace of mind as you begin a new year.
Take some time to write down the highlights of 2017 including your thoughts about your successes and failures. Think about, and jot down, some of the things you may want to accomplish in 2018. Reflect on how you have made personal improvements and how you can maintain them as you go forward.
We hope these tips will be helpful to members of our apartment community as we move forward through the year. If you have tips for having a successful year, please feel free to share them in the comments. Thanks for reading today’s blog post.
